This holiday home was purchased by its current owners a few years ago. The fact that the loft was unused was a factor in the decision to buy the property as they could see the potential to improve the house and add value by doing an attic conversion.

Friends and family visited the property often, and as their families grew, it became apparent that the space would be best used as a separate sleeping area for the children.

The aim was to create a large, versatile, open plan space that could accommodate up to eight children.

The staircase was a new addition, replacing the existing loft hatch and ladder. Number motifs on each stair indicate that you are entering the children’s own area. The furniture was kept playful and fun in line with the room’s intended use.

Two large roof windows were used on the southerly elevation to bring as much light as possible into the room, and also take advantage of the views. The white decor was deliberately chosen to bounce light around the room.

The rustic feel of the room is provided by the exposed beams, and by showcasing the stonework on the gable end. The second hand furniture was carefully chosen to complement it.
